And so meandering begins…

Jamie’s mom posting again.  Jamie  wanting to get an early start on the trail but forgetting about daylight savings time found himself in the park at 7am in the dark!

With the visitor center closed we wandered up the road to the lodge so Jamie could register as a thru hiker while waiting for the sun to come up.

Hey what I can I say my dad wanted to tag along for a few days so I indulged him!

Jamie is still wondering what does my dad have in that pack!!

The approach trail is anything but easy going. Early on there are a mere 600+ steps up to the top of the Amicalola Falls!

This quote by Harold Allen is on the GA historic marker at the beginning of the approach trail so thought I would share it.

” Remote for detachment, narrow for chosen company, winding for leisure, lonely for contemplation, it beckons not merely north and south, but upwards to the body, mind and soul of man”
